Why the cheapest auto quote can cost more
A low monthly number is not a better policy if the quote deleted the coverages you would actually use.
Quote screens sort by price. The cheapest row is often a policy that meets the state liability minimum and nothing else. It may omit uninsured motorist coverage, rental reimbursement, and collision. Those omissions are legal in many states. They are not free. They are risks you kept.
Compare the same limits
Put the same bodily-injury limits, property-damage limit, deductibles, and drivers on every quote before you rank them. A $40 difference in premium means little if one quote is 50/100/50 and another is the state minimum. Ask whether a teen driver or a newly licensed spouse is on the policy. A quote that forgot a household driver is not a real price.
Discounts are not coverage
Paperless billing, a defensive-driving course, and a paid-in-full discount change the premium. They do not change what the contract pays. A telematics program that monitors braking can lower a rate and can also raise it. Read whether the program only discounts or whether it can surcharge.
Top Insurance Deals does not rank carriers and does not take quote applications. Price is local. Your driving record, ZIP code, and the cars on the policy move the number more than a national average does.
